MAM’s Picnic and White Elephant Auction
Saturday, June 28, 2025, 12:00 pm
Franklin Park, 8706 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, KS

PLEASE NOTE: This year’s annual picnic has been cancelled due to concerns about the heat/weather as well as a very low RSVP count. ~ Mid-America Mensa Board

We hope to beat the heat at least by a little bit, by having the Picnic in June instead of July. Get acquainted. Make new friends. Meet up with old friends. Family and friends are always welcome. Bring them along. See, and then taste, what surprise deliciousness may await you at the food table. Snag a bargain treasure! Fund our local scholarship!

MAM will provide burgers and dogs, buns and condiments for both, water and other light non-alcoholic beverages. Bring your own favorite potluck dish to share. [Note: See above reference to surprise deliciousness. Surprise us!]

The Schedule is:

11:00 am     Setup
12:00 pm    Chow down on juicy burgers, hot dogs, and yummy side dishes
2:00 pm      White Elephant Auction and Raffle winner
2:30 pm      Cleanup — not always fun but necessary

Volunteers: Can you show up at 11:00 am to help setting up and grilling? Two or three people for 10-15 minute shifts should do it. Help arrange things: food tables, Auction items, sign-in sheets, and name tags. Keep track of Auction sales — who bought what and for how much and be the cashier. Ask Diana and she will let you know where you are most needed.

Parents: This is a great opportunity for our young M’s and their families to meet in person! The park has abundant shade, a nature playground with stream, indoor bathrooms, a big sand box and more!

Everyone: Help fund the scholarships in two ways. First, of course, is the White Elephant Auction. Search your closets and garages. Bring your good condition items to be snapped up. Be prepared for odd and unique finds and have fun bidding! And … there will be a 50/50 Raffle. Buy a ticket for $2, which goes into the pot. Your winning ticket gets half the pot. The rest goes to our local Scholarship Fund.

Harvesters: It’s a long-standing picnic tradition to bring donations for Harvesters. Harvesters collects household items as well as food. Products like diapers, band-aids, toothpaste, feminine hygiene, and shampoo are welcome, along with the canned goods you’d expect that every family needs.

Please RSVP with Diana and Shawn Dyer so we have enough food and drinks for all.
