Dear Spooktacular Souls,

On Friday, October 11th, at 7:00 pm, prepare to be enchanted (and maybe a little frightened) as Ad Astra Mensa embarks on a ghostly journey through the shadows of the historic Topeka Cemetery at 1601 S.E. 10th Street. It’s our annual Topeka Cemetery Ghost Tour!

As twilight descends and the moon casts eerie shadows, we’ll gather to uncover the secrets that linger among the gravestones. We’ll learn about the history of the Topeka Cemetery and the 35,000 who are buried there. We’ll hear stories about murder, mystery, and controversy of Cemetery residents like Harry Houdini and Arthur Capper.

I recommend arriving a bit early, so we can unite our brave souls and form a ghostly procession. Look for the fearless trio: Dianne Lawson, Richard Benson, and John Scheirman — we’ll be the ones wearing the most appropriate haunted expressions!

The organizers of the tour (Topeka Cemetery) are charging a $10 per person fee to participate.

Please RSVP, so we know who will join us in this spine-tingling adventure. Richard Benson has conjured up this ghostly event, and we can’t wait to share the chills with you!

Stay tuned for more thrilling Ad Astra Mensa happenings, including our regular monthly dinner meeting at the Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant on Monday, October 14th, at 6:00 pm, and the Not-Your-Ordinary Book Discussion Group on Saturday, October 26th, at 10:00 am at Cafe Quetzal.

Care, or shall we say, Dare to join us?
