An audiobook version of My Search for Jazzbo Jones: A Real-life Memoir Adventure by Ethan Hirsh is now available from Amazon’s Audible as well as many other audiobook sources. Narrated by Los Angeles-based actor Jack Nolan, the voice of more than 200 audiobooks, the spoken edition includes the full text of the 400-page original minus captions and footnotes.

While reviewing his own life, the author searches for answers about how his best college friend lost his sight in a racing accident years before they met. Touching on issues of blindness and resilience in the face of tragedy, My Search for Jazzbo Jones includes vivid and often humorous recollections of personal history, the JFK assassination, civil rights, the Vietnam draft — even a personal encounter with Cuba’s Che Guevara. After more than a decade of online detective work, Ethan ultimately delivers far more raw facts than he ever expected about his friend’s fiery wreck on a Kansas racetrack.

The book was released by Atmosphere Press in June as a paperback, hardcover, and e-book (Kindle). In the e-book, the 50 photographs are expandable and about half are in full color.

“… a memoir that is at once gripping, expansive, and replete with both personal experiences and vision and bigger-picture thinking. … deserves a place in any library collection strong in memoirs of blindness, adaptation, friendship, and growth.” – Midwest Book Review
